1Wash and soak 2 cups of dried beans the night before. Rinse off the soaking water, place into pot with 3 1/2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Add cinnamon and cumin.
2Cover and cook for 1 hour.
3If you use canned black beans, drain them in a strainer.
4Add the beans into a saucepan, mix them with cinnamon and cumin. Add 1 cup of water or broth to the pan. Cover and cook on medium for about 10 minutes.
5In a pan, saute onions and garlic with salt.
6Mix beans with sautéed onions, raw bell peppers, a pinch of cayenne, and salt.
7Garnish with cilantro and a wedge of lime.
