Change is a choice
Many people who learn they have high blood sugar, or are on the road to Type 2 Diabetes, choose to ignore their doctor’s orders. It’s easy to do this because the symptoms of these two serious conditions are under the surface, hardly noticed.
The problem is that high blood sugar is doing damage to the body over time. Sometimes, the damage done over a 10-year span happens before they are willing to participate in a helpful health program.
Empowered choices, not coercion
It may be daunting to think about giving up any coping habits, like eating candy, that help in times of stress…and in good times, too. If any of the health professionals you hire suggest that your old life was “Bad” and you need to adopt “Good” habits, please reject their advice. Now is a great time to be mindful and self-compassionate. Change that comes from a place of empowerment brings greater results.
